Japanese teacher role

Details about being a teacher at Japademy:

  • Lessons are organized by Japademy and held via Zoom between the teacher and the student(s)
  • The duration of each lesson is 1 hour (private lessons) or 1.45 hours (group lessons)
  • Lessons can be from Japanese Beginner levels (mostly) to Advanced levels (rarely)
  • We try to provide you with teaching material (slides, handouts, etc.) to help you prepare the lessons
  • When teaching material is not provided by Japademy, you must develop your own teaching material
  • Based on the number of new students, we try to allocate you between 8 and 16 lessons a week
  • You can notify us to update your availability any time. Make sure it does not affect your current lessons
  • The teacher rate is CAD$21/hour (~ ¥2,300/hour) for private lessons and CAD$25/hour (~ ¥2,800/hour) for group lessons
  • Payment is made monthly in Canadian Dollars (CAD$) via WISE (www.wise.com) or PAYPAL (www.paypal.com)
  • You are in charge of converting your funds into your local currency and withdrawing into your own bank account

Japanese teaching requirements

Requirements to be part of the Japademy teaching team:

  • Be a Japanese native person
  • Completed a Japanese Language Teacher Training Course (日本語教師養成講座 420時間); or
  • Passed a Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test (日本語教育能力検定試験)
  • Achieved upper-intermediate to advanced English-speaking skills (equivalent to IELTS 5.5+ / TOELF 72+ / Cambridge B2+)
  • At least 12 months of experience teaching Japanese online
  • Fast and reliable Internet connection at home
  • Good video and audio quality to conduct the lessons
  • Must be able to conduct lessons in a quiet space and clear of visual obstructions
  • (Optional) Experienced teaching Japanese using MINNA NO NIHONGO or GENKI.

Our hiring process

These are the steps applicants go through before selection:

  1. Submit an online application for the Japanese Online Teaching Role (resume and brief about why you would like to join our team)
  2. Pass a 45-minute Japanese Teacher Interview hosted by Japademy's lead instructor
  3. Deliver a 30-minute Mock Teaching Session for a non-native beginner-level student and be assessed by Japademy's lead instructor
  4. Receive an official invitation to be part of Japademy's team!

日本語講師の役割

Japademyの講師としての詳細:

  • レッスンはJapademyが企画し、講師と生徒（複数可）の間でZoomを介して行われます。
  • 各レッスンの時間は、プライベートレッスンが1時間、グループレッスンが1.45時間です。
  • レッスンレベルは、日本語初心者レベル（主に）から上級レベル（稀に）まで多岐にわたります。
  • レッスンの準備をサポートするため、教材（スライド、配布資料など）を提供するよう努めています。
  • Japademyから教材が提供されない場合は、ご自身で教材を作成していただく必要があります。
  • 新規生徒数に基づき、週に4〜16レッスンの割り当てを目指しています。
  • 空き状況はいつでも更新いただけますが、現在のレッスンに影響がないようご注意ください。
  • 講師報酬は、プライベートレッスンがCAD21/時間（約JPY2,300/時間）、グループレッスンがCAD25/時間（約JPY2,800/時間）です。
  • 支払いは毎月カナダドル（CAD$）で、WISE (www.wise.com) またはPAYPAL (www.paypal.com) を通じて行われます。
  • 資金を自国通貨に換金し、ご自身の銀行口座に引き出すのは講師ご自身の責任となります。

日本語教師の応募条件

Japademyの講師チームにご参加いただくための条件:

  • 日本語を母国語とする方
  • 日本語教師養成講座420時間修了者；または 日本語教育能力検定試験合格者
  • 中上級レベルの英語力（IELTS 5.5+ / TOEFL 72+ / Cambridge B2+相当）をお持ちの方
  • オンラインでの日本語教授経験が12ヶ月以上ある方
  • ご自宅に優れたインターネット環境をお持ちの方
  • レッスンに十分なビデオ・オーディオ品質を確保できる方
  • 視覚的な障害がなく、静かな空間でレッスンを実施できる方
  • (任意)「みんなの日本語」または「GENKI」を使用した日本語教授経験のある方。

採用プロセス

採用選考におけるステップ:

  1. 日本語オンライン講師職へのオンライン応募提出（履歴書、およびJapademyのチームに参加したい理由を簡潔に記載）
  2. Japademy主任講師による45分間の日本語講師面接
  3. 日本語を母国語としない初心者レベルの生徒に対して30分間の模擬レッスンを実施し、Japademy主任講師による評価を受ける
  4. Japademyチームへの正式なご招待
