Guidelines

Guaranteed best Japanese online lessons

Our goal is to provide you with the best learning experience. These guidelines are designed to help students and tutors enjoy and make the most of every lesson.

Active participation

Be actively engaged in the lessons, ask questions, and participate in discussions. Practice Japanese outside of your lessons to reinforce your learning. Take advantage of additional learning materials, such as textbooks, flashcards, and online resources.

Consistent schedule

Once you have selected the days and times to learn with your tutor, we recommend you to keep a regular schedule for your lessons to maintain consistency and progress.

Dedicated study space

Create a quiet and distraction-free environment for your lessons. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and compatible devices for your online lessons.

Effective communication

Communicate your learning goals clearly to your tutor. Share your feedback and concerns with your tutor to ensure you're getting the most out of your lessons. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're unsure about anything.

Lessons start time

Tutors will wait a maximum of 15 mins for the student to connect to the scheduled lesson, after that, the lesson will be counted as given. In case the student joins before these 15 mins, the lesson will be finished at the scheduled finish time.

Motivation and perseverance

Establish achievable learning goals to stay motivated. Acknowledge and reward your achievements to stay encouraged. Learning a new language takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself and celebrate your progress.

Public holidays

Lessons are conducted as usual during Public Holidays. If you wish to reschedule your lesson please provide notice as per our "Lessons rescheduling notice" guideline.

Rescheduling notice

If unable to attend or want to reschedule a lesson, provide at least 24 hours notice and it will be rescheduled. If no notice is received or it is received with less than 24 hours notice, the lesson will be counted as given. Lessons can be rescheduled a maximum of 2 consecutive times, otherwise, every unattended lesson will be counted as given.

Cancelations & refunds

We do not provide refunds for cancelled lessons. If you need a break we can keep your balance for purchased lessons for a maximum of 3 months. After that, the balance will not be refunded as the lessons will be counted as given.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Chances are at this stage you still have questions. These are some of the common questions we receive from people who want to learn Japanese with us.

Do I need to know any Japanese to get started?

Not at all. Our native Japanese teachers can swiftly introduce you to the basics of the Japanese language even if you have never studied Japanese before. Moreover, as a student you will get free access to our pre-recorded video lessons, which allow you to start learning before the lessons start.

Will I learn with a native Japanese teacher?

Yes! All our Japanese teachers are native and fully certified as professional Japanese teachers. This sets us apart from other learning websites where teachers may be native but have not received official training for teaching the language.

How do I book a trial lesson?

Explore our list of available Japanese native teachers. Select your preferred teacher based in its profile and availability. Then book a free trial lesson in its calendar.

How can I continue learning with my teacher after the trial lesson?

Secure your weekly lessons with your preferred Japanese teacher by selecting the "Purchase Lessons Package" in the teacher's profile with a simple debit or credit card payment in your local currency.

What can I expect upon enrolling as a student?

Once you have secured your lessons by completing your payment, within 24 hours, we will send you an enrollment confirmation email along with access to our Japanese video courses and vocabulary flashcards. Also, we will send you an invitation via Google Calendar to join the weekly live lessons via Zoom.

How many hours a week do I need to dedicate to learning Japanese?

In addition to your weekly live lesson(s), we recommend you to dedicate at least an extra 90 minutes a week to study on your own. We provide you as a student with vocabulary flashcards and video lessons to review what you learned during the live lessons with your teacher.

Are there any additional costs, such as for books and other materials?

Not at all. We provide you with exclusive Japanese learning material created by Japademy. As a student, you don't need to purchase any books nor pay for the materials we provide you with.

Is there an age requirement to join the lessons?

Our Japanese online lessons are developed for learners who are 14 years old or older. For younger learners, we recommend exploring alternative learning options specifically designed for that age group.

What if I am not satisfied with my teacher?

You can have a free trial lesson which gives you the opportunity to meet your teacher with no commitment. If you are not satisfied with your teacher, we can allocate your to a different one more suitable to your learning needs.
